The Waldeck castle ruin, located west of the Nagold valley, is one of the most beautiful and best preserved ruins in the wider area and one of the largest ruins in the Northern Black Forest.
It belongs to the district of Calw-Stammheim. This was the seat of the nobles of Waldeck, first mentioned in 1140. The castle Waldeck is very strongly fortified on its western access side, one had to cross 7 ditches until one reached the small forecourt.
